Bleeding and cutting yourself or piercing yourself with a sharp object is generally and necessarily considered a bad thing. It is understandable that a part of ourselves could have felt anxious about getting injections or having blood tests, essentially that part of yourself wanted to stop you from getting hurt or feeling pain.
The good news is that when you relax you hardly even feel injections, or if you do feel them, the discomfort is very mild and easy to ignore. If you were avoiding medical treatment because of an old fear of needles or injections then you could have been jeopardising your health rather than protecting it. There is of course a difference between harmless fears which have no or little impact on our lives and strong fears or phobias. If fear keeps you safe and makes you careful that's fine, but if a fear of needles stopped you from getting medical treatment then its time to redress the balance.
