Publisher Description

The 07.44 am train from Brighton to London: The carriages are packed with commuters. One woman occupies her time observing the people around her. Opposite, a girl applies her make-up. Across the aisle, a husband strokes his wife's hand. Further along, a woman flicks through a glossy magazine. Then, abruptly, everything changes: A man collapses, the train is stopped, an ambulance called. And for three passengers that particular morning, life will never be the same again.

"Very good, lump in throat from the first few pages. I feel this book doesn't have the depth of story most books I read have but it deals with a topic that is very much left out "death". The death of one person can affect more people then we realise and the death of a loved one so close is heartbreaking. How do we cope after loss is what this book explores. When your the wife, a friend or even a witness to a death it can change everything!"

" I picked this book up from the library when I was looking for another book by this author. I'm glad that I picked this book up though. I read it pretty quickly. Good read, good charactors and it kept me wanting to read on. "

" It was a very sad and depressing story. I wanted to cry for the wife all the time. This could happen to anyone at anytime. So enjoy your family and love them everyday. "

" I've read a lot of books lately where all the action takes place in some brief time, whether a day, week or a month. This one spends one week with its characters, and the author did a great job of very quickly making me care about what would happen to them. "

" To me, this book was deeply sad. The only character I truly related to was Karen, the woman who loses her husband suddenly when he has a heart attack on the train while sitting next to her. For Karen, yes, this moment on this morning truly changed her life. It seemed to me, though, that the author forced the connection between this man (Simon)'s death and the changes the other two main characters - Anna and Lou - made in their own lives. This wasn't a bad book, but it also wasn't a book a rushed home to read. I knew, each time I picked it up, that I'd be depressed by Karen's sections and bored by Anna and Lou's sections. "

" I read this book - I had read a review in the paper about it. It wasn't as good as I hoped but I did enjoy reading it and the author did a nice job letting you get to know each of the characters and individually while also talking about their friendship/relationships to eachother. "
