#1 NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER
Only a handful of fictional characters are recognized by first name alone. Dean Koontz’s Odd Thomas is one such literary hero, who has come alive in readers’ imaginations as he explores the greatest mysteries of this world and the next with his inimitable wit, heart, and quiet gallantry. Now Koontz follows Odd as he is drawn onward, to a destiny he cannot imagine. Haunted by dreams of an all-encompassing red tide, Odd is pulled inexorably to the sea, to a small California coastal town where nothing is as it seems.

"Not my favorite of the Odd Thomas series. Especially because it is the last. lol. I really got confused at the end, maybe someone can explain what happened with the chick on the tugboat and what the coyotes were that they weren't..."
— Whitney (4 out of 5 stars)
" On travel I have been trying to get into some of the big sellers in the US. I found this an odd story, well written but not that engaging, and in the end turned it back in even though I was 80% finished. "
— Scott, 2/6/2014" Listened to unabridged CD version while motoring -- not too distracting, maybe because Odd Thomas #4 isn't quite up to Koontz' previous efforts and that allowed me to focus my attention on traffic conditions. The story was listenable but a bit hard to believe, even with Odd's unusual powers. I did, however, feel there is much to much moralizing and philosophical blather that really tuned me out. All-in-all, a basically good story that could have been a lot better if not for all the excess verbosity. "
— Jerry, 2/5/2014" 4th odd thomas bk, mostly action, but great quote p219: "so you just loved, just took for granted the love & laughter each day and didn't allow yourself to consider the sacredness of it...it was the why of life, every event and precious moment of it. The answer to the mystery of existence is the love you shared so imperfectly and when the loss wakes you to the deeper beauty of it , the sanctity of it, you can't get off your knees the whole time, you're driven to your knees not by the weight of loss, but by gratitude for what preceded the loss. And the ache is always there, but one day not the emptiness because to nurture the emptiness, to take solace in it, is to disrespect the gift of life." "
— Michelle, 1/30/2014" I enjoyed this one better than the third. Started off slow again. "
— Andrew, 1/26/2014" My least favourite Odd Thomas book to date. "
— Andrewkc, 1/21/2014" The first half was really slow. The remainder was pretty good except I wasn't overly excited about how it ended. It was okay. "
— Shannon, 1/15/2014" Still loving the character, but the plot is getting more confusing and less satisfying as we go along. Still waiting on the next book... "
— Carly, 1/12/2014" Fast paced but felt like it was only the first half of a longer book. "
— Jill, 1/4/2014" a far cry from previous books "
— Chad, 12/30/2013" Great series! I can't wait to read the next! "
— Dani, 12/27/2013" I really like the Odd Thomas series overall. "
— Emmalee, 12/20/2013" This book was awful. It took forever to go nowhere. "
— David, 12/13/2013" Even for an Odd book this was a little weird. But I still enjoyed it, just took me a longer than normal to get through. I would have liked to see more of the characters that he briefly brought into this book. Maybe some will reaper in the next Odd edition. "
— Shylee, 11/26/2013" Thought it was better than the third book. I really hope that the next book will make up for books 3 & 4. "
— Neil, 10/24/2013" Again not my favorite Odd Thomas books. At times I skipped entire sections because it was not relevant to the story. Koontz appears to try and tie this series together by introducing new memories of events that do not benefit the current storyline. "
— Sonny, 10/12/2012" I love the humor in the Odd series of books. This book; however, seemed to try too hard to have that same sense of humor. It's not the best book in the series, but still a good read. "
— Clayton, 8/24/2012" So I thought this Odd book was a return to form - he does get long winded at times but I know I will eventually read the rest - have to know what happens to Odd "
— Daniel, 1/10/2012" I am a huge fan of Dean Koontz but I couldn't for the life of me finish this book! I tried, I really did, but I was so bored and so aggravated by how overly-descriptive and long-winded he was that I had to finally put it down! "
— Tracia, 3/6/2011" Well, was dig gin' the series, but couldn't finish the last odd apocolypse. Had to move on... "
— Jeff, 9/24/2010" I'm a fan of Odd, I like him and think he is great. However, this was by far my least favorite book in the series. While it was still good, I guess I was expecting a bit more out of him, and the bad guys too! "
— Corinna, 6/14/2010" I have to say, I can't get enough of Mr. Koontz's Mr. Odd! He's possibly one of my favourite characters from all the books I've read. "
— Shaun, 8/16/2009" I love Odd, but this book was hard to read - darker than normal. "
— Candice, 8/6/2009" outstanding, wonder where he's gonna take this from here, definetly needs another part to this series "
