Sephy is a Cross, a member of the dark-skinned ruling class. Callum is a Nought, a 'colourless' member of the underclass who were once slaves to the Crosses. The two have been friends since early childhood. But that's as far as it can go. Until the first steps are taken towards more social equality and a limited number of Noughts are allowed into Crosses schools.

Against a background of prejudice and distrust, intensely highlighted by violent terrorist activity by Noughts unable to accept the injustices any longer, a romance builds between Sephy and Callum; a romance that is to lead both of them into terrible danger. Download and start listening now!

" This book was okay.. Nothing out of the ordinary.. I thought it was unrealistic especially the ending.. But she showed the political side of the world.. "

" Officially the most TRAGIC story EVER!!! Starts OK turns miserable, becomes even more miserable, then is OK again, and then the most tragic ending of all!!! So tragedy lovers out there this is THE book for you!!! The story is touching moving, and told with exceptional skill, the author is just absolutely BRILLIANT!!! So a definite recommendation of mine, but again BEWARE THIS IS A TRAGEDY!!! "

" I was pretty much forced to read this book at school by my English teacher but I am so glad she did! It is definitely in my top 5 books I've read as the plot is interesting. I don't usually like fantasy stories however in the world of sephy and Callum the world they live in is the complete opposite to what you could imagine. "

" This book is the sadest book I have ever read, but it is the best. I've never read anything like this and I suggest to anyone who wants to read this to go ahead and read it! After reading it in the summer, I enjoyed it so much that I decided to get it for my birthday and re-read it. Personally, I think it was best second time round as I tend to not always take in all the details in. "

" This book was amazing. I have actually read it multiple times (and I got it only a year ago) and I still haven't got tired of it, which just proves how awesome it is. It is basically about blacks and whites and how one black and one white are best friends and later fall in love and experience hardships because of their different races. The twist however is that the blacks are superior in this world. They rule over the whites. This book brings together romance, hate and racism in a realistic way, which is unlike most romance novels. This book made me laugh and cry all at the same time, that my mum honestly thought I was going crazy. "

" One of the first books I really loved, this is an incredible creation. Rarely (if ever) have I ever been so involved with the two main characters. It packs a greater emotional punch than I have seen anywhere else. For a "childrens" book (although it should really be read by everyone), it deals with huge issues in a careful and honest way. One of my favourite books. "

" A superb book looking at the effects if racism on society. Turning the situation on its head - whites are the underclass here makes it a refreshing and thought provoking read. The black ruling class don't come off very well either. It is all rather messy and the end is very sad. "

" This was a very powerful, emotional story that will stay with me. It certainly made me think about stereotyping people and how lucky we really are with the lives that we lead. I would definitely recommend and am looking forward to the rest of the series. "

" The actual story itself was really good but I felt like it was written for a 12 year old when the content was very mature, which didn't ruin it but did affect how much I liked it as a whole. "

Though it may sound cheesy, this book has truly inspired me. At the end of the book, I cried. I cried for three days straight. A must read! "
