"Massie is obviously sympathetic towards the Romanovs. However, he does a good job of telling the reader when he's speculating. i really enjoyed Massie's use of letters and journals on which he bases the stories. It definately added credibility to the many myths surrounding the Romanovs. Massie's constant babbling about hemophilia can be a little tedious, but it's understandable with his son being a hemophiliac. The end is a bit bothersome when he mentions where everyone is and who is still alive...just because the book was written in the 60s. Overall, it is a very well written book that keeps you reading even though we all know how the story ends."
