Naked Empire Audiobook

" This book was much more overtly preachy than any it's predecessors. Several of the characters, especially Richard, would launch in monologues that were several pages long, but each paragraph was just a rephrasing of the one before it. And every time Kahlan went to use her power, Goodkind would describe it endlessly in much the same way Richard gave his speeches. They were very good descriptions, but anyone who's stuck with the series this long knows how her power works. That being said, I liked this story line better than the last few books. Some of the twists I didn't see coming, and I enjoyed how many of the hanging threads from past books finally came together. And i was thrilled to see Chase again! He was one of my favorite characters and I missed him while he was gone. I'm looking forward to the next three books, mostly because then this series will be over. I enjoyed the premise in the first few books, but it's dragged on much too long and I can't just stop the series. "

" Possibly the slowest book in the series so far in my opinion, and thus the one I have liked the least. It was still interesting and intriguing and I'm just happy to follow Richard and Kahlan on further adventures, but I don't the first ~400 pages or so really added much to the story. What was the whole deal with the beacon system? In the end, it seemed like they completely forgot about it. I feel ambivalent towards this book, but am looking forward to Chainfire. (Note: I am also incredibly happy that they left Jennsen in Bandakar!) "

" I love all these books of course. This one a little weird though. You know at the end when Richard killed The Slide? In The Slides point of view when he died, it sounded as if he did one final thing of magic. But in Richards point of view nothing happened. He just died. So right now I'm really confused whether The Slide did some magic or I read it wrong or he was never able to do anything... or even in Terry Goodkind meant for that to happen... I really don't know. This book was refreshing in a way that there wasn't that much... story so to say. Not my favorite of books despite learning of the new magical being they created, but it wasn't bad either. "

" It was the typical Goodkind formula. Hero encounters adversity, realises a truth and triumphs over evil once again *yawn*. It was also very preachy, Goodkind certainly has a philosophy which he likes to spout to readers. Alternative pholosophies do exist but they are proven wrong in the end. "
