"I never really knew much about Marilyn Monroe until I read this book. Since she's been the subject of a bunch of new TV shows and movies, I thought I would check out her autobiography. And I loved what I found inside. She had an extremely hard life: her mother was unstable, and she was bumped around from foster home to foster home, until she married someone she didn't love at age 16...only to divorce him and become a struggling and starving actress that the movie executives never really liked. But the simplicity and earnestness with which she wrote about it was endearing. She was also insightful and wise: I was repeatedly struck by the observations in her book. It made me realize she was a lot more than the "dumb blonde" roles she was relegated to in the movies."

" a beautiful unfinished memoir! <3 I'm doing research on her for one of my books & this was awesome! "

" It was the fastest read. I've heard rumors that some stories aren't true, but according to the book, the manuscript was penned by Monroe herself. It's interesting to read her words as she intended them--I really didn't know much about her personally (obviously) but she was smarter and less sexual than you'd ever imagine. It was exactly what I wanted in my next book--simple and easy, not requiring much thought at all. "

" Such a sad little unfinished autobiography. Though her loneliness is palpable and I don't doubt the facts of her orphaned childhood I wonder if she was really as innocent as she makes out here. Pair it with Joyce Carol Oates' Blonde for the flip side of the coin. "

" I would like to know whether MM actually wrote this. If she truly did, this book is a precursor to understanding who she was and why she became who she was at the end. Although it didn't satiate my hunger for a deeper look at MM, this book was a good quick read with a tinge of sadness. "
