There's been a brutal murder on the ranch, and it's up to Hank the Cowdog, Head of Ranch Security, to conduct the investigation. The only problem is no one's talking. After a dangerous fact-finding mission, Hank thinks he knows who the guilty party is. But before he can make the arrest, he's captured by a bloodthirsty pack of coyotes and condemned to death at daybreak. Can Hank escape before the killer strikes again?

Hank and Junior the Buzzard do a romantic duet of Beulah, Good Night and Hank sings a soulful number called The Cold Weather Cowdog Blues.

"I read pretty much this entire series years ago after I descovered them in my elementary school libary. The plot, and characters are great. Plus these books are extremly funny. I loved this series then and I still love it."

" Well Hank outdoes himself this time around as Christmas approaches and murder is afoot. The vultures and coyotes are back, making this a really fun read and one I highly recommend. "

" Well, I grew up listening to Hank the Cowdog on road trips. My sister found this book somewhere for a dollar, and placed it by the toilet, so i thought what the heck, and I read it, it was fun. But reading Hank is not the same as listening, for John Erickson does an amazing job with the voices. "

" This book was a pretty cool book. But the reason i rated it a four was because I thought it was very confusing at some times in the story. I was planning to read the other ones but oh well... "
