Award-winning author Tracie Peterson continues her best-selling Song of Alaska series and her celebration of Alaskan history with Morning Refrain. Set in 1889, this compelling sequel to Dawn's Prelude explores the effects of sin and forgiveness on life and love.
As she steams closer to Alaska's Sitka Island, 18-year-old Phoebe Robbins wonders what this wild, untamed land might offer her. Before she can set foot on its shore, however, she tumbles into deep water and finds herself in the rescuing arms of Dalton Lindquist. But when Dalton must leave his beloved island and the lovely Phoebe to find answers about his past, another young man tries to steal Phoebe's affection. As the past collides with an uncertain future, the battle for Phoebe's heart is just one challenge that lies ahead. As Peterson's panoramic tale unfolds, the shimmering tones of Linda Stephens narration highlight the author's compelling blend of romance, inspiration, and adventure.

"Tracie Peterson is one of my favorite historical fiction writers. She does a wonderful job of combining Christian principles with romance and suspense. This book is the second in her Song of Alaska series, with the first being Dawn's Prelude. Morning's Refrain continues the story of Lydia and Kjell Lindquist, and centers on their son Dalton, and Lydia's sister Evie, both of whom return to their family's original home to try and solve some family mysteries, and put to rest bad memories. Peterson provides details about the Alaskan culture and terrain, with descriptions of the Tlingit tribe and their struggle with missionaries who are trying to remove their cultural identities. Next, I will be reading the third book in the series, Twilight's Serenade, to continue to follow this family's dependence on God and each other to handle tragedies that occur." — L (5 out of 5 stars)

" As enjoyable as the first book in the series. I look forward to the next one. "
" I am really enjoying this series! I bought them on a recommendation of someone I don't know, which I don't usually do. And am so glad I did! "
" Grew tired of the story within the first few sentences, not gonna lie. "
" I enjoyed the basic story line of this book, especially the location details, but I wish the author was better at developing her stories and characters. "
" In love with this series, on to book 3! "
" sequel to Dawn's Prelude. it was decent. :) "
" I love Tracie Peterson's books! I have read everyone of her books that my library carries. Her books are an easy read but I love the drama/romance in them. "
" Not horrible, not great, a little bland "
" Huge disappointment =( I knew what was going to happen within the first two chapters.... "
" The 2nd book in the Song of Alaska. It was a good book, although slow at times. The story is of Dalton and his life in Sitka. He goes back to Kansas City to meet his siblings and has decisions to make when he learns of his inheritance. "
" I had much higher hopes for this part of the series after reading book one. However, I found it lacking in the story line, character development, etc. "
" I really liked this book. I like how there was 2 romances. This series by Tracie Peterson is really a great one. I look foward to what there is in store for the characters in the third book. "
" Great book, took me a little bit to get into it. But once I gave it my full attention I couldn't put it down! "
" This was not my favorite book. It had nothing to do with Phoebe and Dalton's love story. It was all about everyone else and their problems. And still about the Gray's and their influence. I got bored with this book. "
" Another excellent read by Tracie Peterson! "
" I'm really enjoying this series by Tracie Peterson, and I'm looking forward to the next book. "
" Christian fiction is so darn contrived, lack of character development in this one is a major bummer as well. No more Peterson for me. "
" An enjoyable, light read with a Christian angle to it. I really enjoy Tracie Peterson's books! :) "
" The plot was weak through three fourths of the book. The plot was more exciting near the end. I did finish the book but would not recommend it. "
" The second book in the series takes the story to the next generation. There are still unresolved family complications that must be dealt with. "
