Publisher Description

Imogen Waterstone has always prided herself on being a thoroughly independent young woman. But now she needed a man: one with an implacable will and nerves of iron. That's why she invited Matthias Marshall, the infamous explorer and Earl of Colchester, to her home in Upper Stickleford. Her scheme was simple, really: She would let it be known that when she inherited her uncle's collection of antiquities, she would also inherit a map to a fabulous ancient treasure. Certain that her enemy would risk financial ruin in pursuit of the artifact, Imogen expected Colchester to set himself up as the ruthless lord's rival and pretend to seduce her so that he, too, could get his hands on her map.

In all of her pleading, Imogen never anticipated Colchester's reaction to her request or her own electrifying response to him. With his powerful build and the swath of silver in his dark hair, Matthias was more than magnificent. And as he entered her charade, Imogen found herself in the thrall of true passion at last.

"Amanda Quick could write ingredients of breakfast cereal and I'd enjoy it. Is this the great american novel? Absolutely not but if you enjoy an excellent historical mystery with a health dash of romance, give an AQ novel a try."

" I guess I should not tell people I like romance novels. I don't read them all that often, but I do enjoy them every so often. I find that the ones by Amanda Quick are relatively well written. They are easy to pick up and put down on vacation. Mischief was pretty fun. "

" This book is true to its title - Mischief. Imogen seems to have a plan which is really poorly constructed. I'm not surprised with things go wrong. Still, it's a HEA since it is a romance by Ms. Quick. "

" Where was the editor for this book? It was actualy a very decent story, but I felt as though I were reading the rough draft rather than the final copy. From the title and description, expected more lighthearted fun, but it was actually quite dark. Main complaint is that it needed a major re-write. "
