" The only reason I didn't give this volume 3 stars was the character Mike. He seemed very whiny and I hop he won't recur in other volumes. Great story though. Well written and easy to read. "

" My 7 year old likes this series and I can see why - children who solve mysteries that adults can't; children who get to act like adults and do things like buy stoves, etc. --- but for me, this book was kind of lame. Definitely written in the 1950's. "

About the Author
Author Gertrude Chandler Warner

Gertrude Chandler Warner (1890–1979) is best remembered as the author of the Boxcar Children mysteries. As a child, she spent hours watching trains near her home and often dreamed about what it would be like to live in a caboose or freight car. In each story, she chose a special setting and introduced unpredictable, unusual, or eccentric characters to help highlight the Aldens’ independence and resourcefulness. She lived in Putnam, Connecticut, until her death in 1979.
