Anna and Luke are happy and very much in love but haunted by their inability to conceive a child. Luke's escape is the bizarre horror novel he is writing. But when they befriend Declan, a homeless man, who slowly but surely insinuates himself into their lives the gaps between them start to widen; particularly as sections of Luke's novel are replayed by Declan with Anna a sometimes willing and sometimes unaware participant.
As Declan's behaviour becomes more worrying and Luke's dreams become more bizarre so things head towards an exhilarating and disturbing finale.
