"For someone who knew nothing about mindfulness, this book was absolutely wonderful. It was simple and short. Each chapter focuses on a different meditation or skill to learn for your mindfulness practice, and made everything easy for me to relate to. Before I picked up this book, I was concerned it would be totally focused on Buddhism practices and ideas/philosophies that went over my head--I was pleasantly surprised that my experience was the exact opposite. In addition to the simple breakdown of meditative practices, it includes a CD with the author instructing you on each of the meditations. This also proved extremely helpful and helped me stay focused during my practice. This book taught me that meditation is a journey and each day will be different--but just reading about it has already helped!"

" This book starts with a basic description of medication, and then goes on to expand the instructions into six different types of meditation. Each of the six are explained, and a CDR in the back provides a verbal cue of what you are to do, as well as a timed meditation session. If I remember correctly, you are to practice twice a day at a set time, in a set place. Doing this will reduce distractions, and allow you to progress faster. "

" I have been meditating my whole life & my friends always wanted to know how I did it. How I stayed so calm with everything. I bought this book for my close friend & he's a changed man. I've never seen him so calm & relaxed. He doesn't stress anymore. We all meditate in our own way but this book is GREAT for showing you how to start the process. I couldn't be happier with the end result it has given my husband. Thank you Jack Kornfield. "
