"Lucas by Kevin Brooks focuses on the life of Caitlin, a young girl who has a normal life until she meets Lucas. Lucas is an outsider and doesn't socialize with many people in her town. Many people from her community think that Lucas is weird and want him to leave their town. Eventually, a selfish teenager named Jamie frames Lucas for assaulting another girl. In the end Lucas has to pay the price for someone elses mistakes and dies. I really enjoyed this book because it shows how people should not be judged by there appearences, as Lucas was."

" The first book I have ever read by Kevin Brook and afterward I HAD to read MORE!!! This book is thrilling but in a soft way ... Only a true author can do something like this he makes you want to yell at the book and cry tears of joy and he succeeds... If you can read well what is it that your waiting for to hunt this book down and not just read it but DEVOUR it !! "

" This book is a good show of how prejudices can alter the way people think and how others can get caught up in it. It also illustrated well that it is okay to stand up and be the one to try to make things right even if you are doing it alone. I really liked the book even though the ending was sad. "

" This book seemed as contrived as an after-school special to me, with plenty of one-dimensional all "bad" characters to match. I have a feeling that if I were still a teenager, I'd think this YA book was talking down to me. "

" I just finished rereading Lucas and, even after four years, I still adore this book. I want to meet a person like Lucas. One of my favorite quotes is the one Caitlin's dad says to her about not getting over her pain but reducing it to a level that doesn't kill her. It is a great story. "
