New York Times best-selling master J. A. Jance brings back J. P. Beaumont, one of the most enduring and endearing characters in contemporary fiction, in a riveting story about a shocking, long-buried case of murder.

After more than 20 years of distinguished service with the Seattle Police Department, Jonas Piedmont Beaumont is now working for the Washington State Attorney's Special Homicide Investigation Team or, as it's more commonly referred, the SHIT squad. But the more things change, the more they stay the same.

An eyewitness to a 50-year-old murder has just come forward, and Beau has been hand-picked to lead the investigation. While undergoing hypnotherapy, a middle-aged nun unexpectedly recalls the grisly details of a cold-blooded killing she witnessed when she was five years old. Though fear has kept these memories repressed for half a century, they've now risen to the surface to cast a harsh light on a deadly plot that spans two generations. And Beau's caught in the glare, facing a ruthless band of co-conspirators willing to go to any lengths to keep their secrets hidden.

Filled with all of the Jance trademarks, heart-stopping suspense, deeply drawn characters, local flavor, intelligence, and humanity, Long Time Gone is a crowning achievement in this best-selling author's career.

" I am a fan of JA Jance, especially her JP Beaumont series, of which this is one. There were a few places where I got a little bogged down in the background of some of the characters, but this was an interesting story. I did think that the little girl witnessing a murder, and later becoming a nun was a little far fetched--especially having her hypnotized to recall the incident. Of course, that was needed for plot development. Kramer makes a good villain/policemen and Mel is a stellar character. All in all, about the right amount of crime and gore. "

" The plot on this one is a little twisted and confusing. I'm still trying to figure out some of the things that happened...they were a little far-fetched! "

" JP is on the case of a middle-aged nun whose repressed memories provide evidence of a 50-year-old murder...JP is also helping his ex-partner who may be a suspect in the murder of his ex-wife...filled with all of the Jance trademarks...heart-stopping suspense, deeply drawn characters, local flavor of Seattle...its timelined before "Justice Denied" and after "Partner in Crime" with the introduction of Melissa Soames into JP's life...good all-round read for me!!! "

" A good J.P. Beaumont mystery cop thriller. Beau gets assigned to a 50 year old cold case and it quickly becomes a hot current case. Sister Mary Katherine is introduced in this book and things heat up between Beau and Mel Soames. Recommended. "

" Better than the usual JA Jance book, but it still sounds like a refined lady trying to write from the point of view of a hardened homicide cop, and it just doesn't feel right. Pretty good story, though. "
