Life's a bit of a beach these days for Ginger Walsh, who's single at 41 and living back home in the family FROG (Finished Room Over Garage). Geri, her BlackBerry-obsessed sister, is also nearly off the deep end, about her pending 50th birthday (and might just drag Ginger with her). Toss in a dumpster-picking father, a Kama Sutra T-shirt-wearing mother, a movie crew come to town with a very cute gaffer, an on-again, off-again glassblower boyfriend, plus a couple of Red Hat realtors, and hilarity ensues. Listener Opinions

" Total fluff. I finished this book in 2 days - and that was with a toddler's birthday party thrown in there. Very predictible and very unrealistic. Some potentially good characters but she barely skims the surface... leaving me with no real connection to the book or the characters. "

  • 2 out of 52 out of 52 out of 52 out of 52 out of 5 Rogers007 | 2/20/2014

" this was an ok book to pass the time at 3 in the morning when I couldn't sleep, wouldn't go out and buy it, but it would also pass time on the plane or ferry. "

  • 3 out of 53 out of 53 out of 53 out of 53 out of 5 Charie | 2/19/2014

" Not as good as I was hoping! "

  • 3 out of 53 out of 53 out of 53 out of 53 out of 5 Kristi Fleming | 2/8/2014

" During summer, there's nothing like a good "beach" read. In Claire Cook's, "Life's a Beach", she lives up to the task. It is funny, I love the sarcastic sense of humor, has a good story line, and isn't heavy. If you are looking for a good summer read, you've found it! "

  • 3 out of 53 out of 53 out of 53 out of 53 out of 5 Jen Chaffman | 2/7/2014

" Wish you could give half stars here! This was okay, but I liked it too. Just an easy summer read, with a bit of cleverness thrown in here and there! "

  • 3 out of 53 out of 53 out of 53 out of 53 out of 5 Laura | 2/4/2014

" Towards the end I really started to dislike some of the characters but it made me smile more than once. "

  • 2 out of 52 out of 52 out of 52 out of 52 out of 5 Terri | 1/28/2014

  • 5 out of 55 out of 55 out of 55 out of 55 out of 5 Shelly | 1/27/2014

" I loved it!!! This was such an easy, fun read. I suppose it is a beach read, but I'd recommend it for anyone who just wants a simple story that's easy and fun to read. "

  • 4 out of 54 out of 54 out of 54 out of 54 out of 5 Shirl | 12/24/2013

  • 2 out of 52 out of 52 out of 52 out of 52 out of 5 Linda | 12/21/2013

  • 3 out of 53 out of 53 out of 53 out of 53 out of 5 Leah | 12/19/2013

" More chicklit. The main character is annoying to me, because she is 40 and so unfocused. But as in all chicklit--ends tie up nicely "

  • 2 out of 52 out of 52 out of 52 out of 52 out of 5 Carrie | 6/22/2013

" There was potential here with a cute story and some interesting characters, but it felt like the author didn't really develop the characters or the conflicts nearly as well as she could have. "

  • 2 out of 52 out of 52 out of 52 out of 52 out of 5 Kim Gethers | 6/4/2013

" I needed a non-intense book and this book fit the bill - it offers little to truly 'think' about. I did enjoy the kookiness of her father and the vast differences of personalities that can co-exist in a family. "

  • 3 out of 53 out of 53 out of 53 out of 53 out of 5 Pmanco | 4/23/2013

" Another quick, mindless summer read. A cute little romance story "

  • 4 out of 54 out of 54 out of 54 out of 54 out of 5 Stephanie | 4/19/2013

" This is a thoroughly engaging book that has no plot, just interesting characters. To pull off a novel with no clear beginning, middle, or ending is quite a feat. Color me impressed. "
