My tendency to make up stories and lie compulsively for the sake of my own amusement takes up a good portion of my day and provides me with a peace of mind not easily attainable in this economic climate.
—Chelsea Handler, from Chapter 10 of Chelsea Chelsea Bang Bang

It's no lie: Chelsea Handler loves to smoke out dumbassness, the condition people suffer from that allows them to fall prey to her brand of complete and utter nonsense. Friends, family, co-workers - they've all been tricked by Chelsea into believing stories of total foolishness and into behaving like total fools. Luckily, they've lived to tell the tales and, for the very first time, write about them.

Listener Opinions

  • 3 out of 53 out of 53 out of 53 out of 53 out of 5 Chrissie | 2/11/2014

" Mildly amusing if you like pop culture and Chealsea Lately. "

  • 5 out of 55 out of 55 out of 55 out of 55 out of 5 Liz Haywood | 2/10/2014

" I had to zip my face up in my coat on the pain to hide my face I was laughing so hard. People probably thought I had some serious issues. "

  • 3 out of 53 out of 53 out of 53 out of 53 out of 5 Anna | 2/1/2014

" Although still not as funny as Chelsea Handler's first 2 books, this one was really fun in that you get to how she acts on an everyday basis and sort of why (in my opinion, she is hilarious, cringe-worthy, and selfish and generous at the same time). "

  • 4 out of 54 out of 54 out of 54 out of 54 out of 5 Candace | 1/20/2014

" This was just what I needed. Something funny and ridiculous and at times disgusting. Read for a pee your pants laugh. "

  • 2 out of 52 out of 52 out of 52 out of 52 out of 5 Julie | 1/19/2014

" Although the first 1-2 chapters started out amusing, the book plummeted in entertainment and wasn't that funny. It kind of made chelsea seem more sadistic and making up for it with expensive (and exotic) trips with her friends. The last 2 chapters (with requests of bleeps of her show and written by her 'dog)' were unimaginative and boring. I wouldn't waste my time reading it, although its a 6th grade reading level. "

  • 2 out of 52 out of 52 out of 52 out of 52 out of 5 Sharene | 1/18/2014

" I had this on audible and quit about half way into it (and I'll trudge through almost anything!). Just un-funny. I never watch her show, so not really sure what I was doing with this in the first place. Trying to recreate my Sarah Silverman Bedwetter love, I think. "

  • 4 out of 54 out of 54 out of 54 out of 54 out of 5 Crystal Joyce | 1/15/2014

" Not as good as other Handler books but it was still really funny. My favorite line from the book: "Watching him apply sunscreen is like watching someone rub Ranch Dressing into a brown shag carpet." "

  • 5 out of 55 out of 55 out of 55 out of 55 out of 5 Elaine | 1/15/2014

" Hilarious! I can't imagine working in that environment! "

  • 1 out of 51 out of 51 out of 51 out of 51 out of 5 Tamara | 1/13/2014

" don't waste your time, it's more mean spirited than funny "

  • 4 out of 54 out of 54 out of 54 out of 54 out of 5 Alison | 1/8/2014

" This book is just as funny as all of Chelsea handlers others maybe even funnier. The stories by her friends and family members keep you laughing throughout the whole book. I hope to never be one of Chelsea handlers victims. "

  • 1 out of 51 out of 51 out of 51 out of 51 out of 5 Tiffany | 11/29/2013

" My friend Alicia recommended I read all of Chelsea Handler's books because they're soooooo funny. I don't think she's funny. I think she's mean. These people put up with a lot to get their free trips to Cabo, lemme tell ya . . . "

  • 5 out of 55 out of 55 out of 55 out of 55 out of 5 Angela Villalobos | 11/19/2013

" I died laughing this book. Okay, that's a lie, obviously I'm still alive... but, if I had a weak bladder like Chelsea I'd have needed a change of pants rather often, too, after grabbing and holding my coslopus from laughing so hard. "

  • 3 out of 53 out of 53 out of 53 out of 53 out of 5 April | 11/14/2013

" Quick read. Crass. Funny. "

  • 4 out of 54 out of 54 out of 54 out of 54 out of 5 Jason Fleming | 7/29/2013

  • 4 out of 54 out of 54 out of 54 out of 54 out of 5 Amanda Jackson | 7/10/2013

" This book is funny. Chelsea is a jerk to her friends and they all tell a story or two of some interesting pranks she played on them. I laughed through most of this book. "

  • 3 out of 53 out of 53 out of 53 out of 53 out of 5 Mendy | 6/9/2012

" If half these stories are true than Chelsea Handler is psychotic! I am all about practical jokes but these go way over the line! The stories are pretty funny but sad at the same time that Chelsea is able to fool people into believing these lies and the extremes that they go to because of them. "

  • 4 out of 54 out of 54 out of 54 out of 54 out of 5 Malyssa | 3/23/2012

" It was a highly entertaining book, especially if you are a fan of Chelsea Handler's style of comedy. "

  • 3 out of 53 out of 53 out of 53 out of 53 out of 5 Julie | 6/20/2011

" If I had stopped at disc five I'd have been more delighted. The last disc seemed like "filler" to me. Must say, Ms. H is one demented bitch. (and I mean that in the nicest way) "

  • 2 out of 52 out of 52 out of 52 out of 52 out of 5 Crystal | 5/25/2011

" I didn't find this funny at all, and the only enjoyable thing about it was Chelsea's comments at the end of each story. "
