Publisher Description

A captivating story that will help you find your purpose and leadership in life. Although he’s one of the most successful high school basketball coaches in Kentucky’s history, Steve Rocker, for the first time in his life, is falling short of expectations. His players have lost their will to win, their love for their teammates, and their passion to play. Coach Rocker’s motivational methods that have always worked before—and have resulted in his success—are now failing, and he doesn’t know why. Struggling to understand what’s happening, Coach seeks the counsel of one of his most successful friends, CEO Grant Steffin, who, while fighting his own battles, offers advice based on his own leadership experiences. Coach Rocker also stumbles upon some unexpected insight from—of all people—Joe Taylor, the high school janitor. As Coach’s season spirals downward, and as he continues to interact with these two intriguing men, the why questions become louder and louder in his head. Why does he do what he does? Or for that matter, why does he even exist? These questions eventually push him to go deeper into his own heart than he ever imagined possible to determine his purpose not only in leadership but also in life.

"This is actually my first audio book purchased. The paperback was recommended by a friend but I did not get a chance to read it for several months. I am glad that I bought the audio book; I could not "put it down"! The story line was easy to follow and engaging. The principles are relevant and timeless. The narrator is brings the novel o life. I enjoyed LEAD....for God's Sake! because it inspired me as well as challenged me to be a better leader. The story was a bit long for me at times. I believe it could have been condensed more and the message arrived at earlier. The message was well received nevertheless. WORTH THE "READ"!"

" Gongwer says a lot of good things about leadership and what it demands. Do not, however, turn to this for a literary experience. "

" Leadership advice for the totally clueless! Perhaps good for people who are totally out of touch with their feelings and the feelings of others. Of course, if they are that clueless--will they even take any of the advice found here. "

" Great story that emphasizes the importance of relationships in life. Without a heart, leadership is simply buying people off or beating them into submission, neither of which is leadership at all. "

" I have to keep telling myself that this is a parable, and so the plotline shouldn't be expected to ring true. I thought the ideas about leadership and how to do it by the heart were good. The conversations just seemed fake. "
