Isaura huye con la ayuda de su padre a otra ciudad donde asume el nombre de Elvira y conoce a Alvaro, un apuesto joven de nobleza y fortuna, quien cae prendado a los pies de Elvira. La trama toma intensidad cuando la identidad de Isaura es descubierta y es encontrada por Leoncio.
