Publisher Description

James Stark, a.k.a. Sandman Slim, crawled out of Hell, took bloody revenge for his girlfriend’s murder, and saved the world along the way. After that, what do you do for an encore? You take a lousy job tracking down monsters for money. It’s a depressing gig, but it pays for your beer and cigarettes. But in L.A., things can always get worse. Like when Lucifer comes to town to supervise his movie biography and drafts Stark as his bodyguard. Sandman Slim has to swim with the human and inhuman sharks of L.A.’s underground power elite. That’s before the murders start. And before he runs into the Czech porn star who isn’t quite what she seems. Even before all those murdered people start coming back from the dead and join a zombie army that will change our world and Stark’s forever. Death bites. Life is worse. All things considered, Hell’s not looking so bad.

"While not as great as the first book, this one still had its moments. My peeves was Lucifer. How could he be portrayed as such a wimp? That he now wants out of hell to get back into heaven and be forgiven. This book seemed less thought out as with Kadney's first book and I had begun to think Stark's father was Lucifer. This book does continue with the same originality as the other one but, again, not as concise as Sandman Slim. This time Stark is helping protect Lucifer while he is on earth and running into all sorts of problems. It had great moments but not as noteworthy as before."

" I take it back... this is no trilogy... I think it's meant to be a quintology of noir fantasies with a hero who is one of the Nephilim. "

" This book, the second in the series by Richard Kadrey, was sadly not as good as the first. It dragged here and there, and is others was just a but too gratuitous even for the subject matter. While the first book was new and different, the second felt like more of the same and did not hold my attention like the first did. "

" Just as inventive, violent, delightful, and action-packed as "Sandman Slim." It's urban supernatural done right, with a hard-edged, sarcastic bite. Loved it, can't wait for part three. "

" Another fun romp with Sandman Slim. The mythology reminds me of Mike Carey's Lucifer but there are enough original twists on it that it feels fresh. Stark continues to evolve as a character and his relationships with the characters who appear can go in some surprising directions. Recommended. "
