" An engaging story of the summer of love and the beginnings of the artist Robert Mapplethorpe and his friend and musical phenomenon Patti Smith. What a tale-the godmother of punk and the tortured artist and their life in art. "

" This a a truly amazing book. The story itself could drive the whole piece, but the way she writes it is poetry in motion. If you love NYC, rock 'n roll history, biography of great artists, or just enjoy a quirky love story, this book will reel you in and keep you engaged until the last page. "

" This book transported me to New York of the 60s and the 70s, and made real the loves and lives of people who lived for art. Patti Smith's relationship with Robert Mapplethorpe was a beautiful and complex thing. An amazing story. I really, really didn't want it to end. "
