When gorgeous and daring Lilian Bowman is cut down to size, realizing that her independent American persona is not en vogue in Great Britain her humiliation and disappointment is palpable. The most disapproving was the unbearably arrogant Marcus, Lord Westcliff, also London's most eligible and well to do bachelor.

When Marcus surprisingly, and daringly, swept Lillian into his arms she was overwhelmed with an all-consuming fever for a gentleman she could not stand. Yet time was the only thing not moving. Heaven only knows what would happen if they were caught in the midst of the act!

When Marcus, the man once in control of his desires, once the very vision of stability, is knocked off his high-horse by Lillian it sets in motion a romance unlike any other. Her every embrace was the most sensual torture, her every movement an alluring seduction for more. Would he consider asking a woman so brazenly ill-bred to be his bride?

The answer awaits in this second installment of the Wallflower Series: It Happened One Autumn.

Lisa Kleypas was born in 1964 and was Miss Massachusetts and a finalist in the Miss America pageant. She has written numerous romance and historical novels. Writing during the summers of her study at Wellesley College, she requested financial support after graduation from her parents until her first novel was sold. Two months later, it was. She currently lives in Washington with her husband and her two children.

It happened at the Ball....

Where beautiful but bold Lillian Bowman quickly learned that her independent American ways weren't entirely the thing. And the most disapproving of all was insufferable, snobbish, and impossible Marcus, Lord Westcliff, London's most eligible aristocrat.

It happened in the garden...

When Marcus shockingly - and dangerously - swept her into his arms. Lillian was overcome with a consuming passion for a man she didn't even like. Time stood still; it was as if no one else existed...thank goodness they weren't caught very nearly in the act!

It happened one autumn....

Marcus was a man in charge of his own emotions, a bedrock of stability. But with Lillian, every touch was exquisite torture, every kiss an enticement for more. Yet how could he consider taking a woman so blatantly unsuitable...as his bride?

" Second in the Wallflower series. Hero is a rather stuffy Earl and heroine is a brash American heiress. They fight, sparks fly, it's all enjoyable, but I was a lot more interested in the kinda-bad guy St. Vincent. "

" This book was like coming back and hanging out with old friends. I love the adventures the two sisters have while husband hunting. I enjoyed the first book a bit more but I would definitely suggest this book to someone else. "

" As a feminist and as a woman, I was deeply uncomfortable with the sex scene where the heroine was drunk. Really uncomfortable. I realize that this is a novel and supposed to be about fantasy, but there are some things I'm not okay with, and a lack of informed consent is one of them. "

" What a fun little romance novel. Lillian Bowman is an extremely likable character - she's bold and fun - and Marcus, while rather obnoxious in his prissy ways, is also a very nice, likable guy. This is a super fun read! I especially loved the ending, which twisted and turned in ways I didn't expect! "

" I liked this book more than I thought I would! I loved the first book in the series, but I wasn't super excited to read this one. I didn't love the characters, and was afraid they would wear me thin. I am happy to say I was wrong! I fell a little more in love with the Wallflowers in this book:) "
