As Jake hustled and bustled along, little did he know that his peace was about to be shattered. His happy holiday soon became a Christmas from hell. With America spiraling out of control from a terrorist strike dwarfing 9/11, and a natural disaster that devastated his family, Jake was forced to discover the only thing left to hang on to was his faith.

He never thought things like this could happen to him or his family, and he prayed for a miracle to bring his fraying life together. But what if the answer to that prayer included a trip to hell and back?

Find out what happens to Jake in Creighton Lovelace's adventurous and gripping story It Could Happen to You.

" Molly Ringwald's sophomore book (but fiction debut) is a little slice of literary genius. A series of interconnected short stories, Ringwald examines the boundaries of love and betrayal, and how the two are irrevocably entwined. The author approaches the subject matter with an unflinching yet sympathetic eye--none of the characters escape scrutiny and, as a result, are infused life rather than just merely players in a story. The only minor critique one could offer of When It Happens To You is that sometimes the effort to connect the story via "guest" appearances of main characters in short stories not their own feels a bit forced. "

" Very good. Different stories intertwined with each other. "

" Super surprised by this book. I read it, not expecting much, because its Molly Ringwald. But I really enjoyed it. Told through individual stories that are linked by characters in the other stories, it's a tale of life and choices and decisions. Well written and entertaining. "

" Read this book! Interesting characters in well written prose. Short stories that make a novel. Good book! "

" It didn't end how I thought it would but it definitely makes you think. You never truly know how you will act in a certain situation until you are presented with it yourself. This is extremely well written - Molly did a great job - and it made me think. Way to go Molly. "

" I'm not usually one for stories, but I picked this up because of the Molly Ringwald factor. I really enjoyed the way the stories were linked together, and was impressed by the writing. "

" Although the characters were interesting and the writing was strong, this book was ultimately frustrating to read. It wasn't a novel, but it wasn't standalone short stories, either, so in the end I felt unsatisfied. There was no sense of resolution. "

" For me this book was just okay. I liked the overall structure and how it fit together. I wished there was more Oliver and Marina. The writing just wasn't that great to me. The novelty factor was high though, and I would consider picking up another book by Ringwald. "

" A book about real life, real love, and real loss. It's fiction, but it's real. I really enjoyed this quick read. "

" I found this didn't hold my interest as I'd hoped. The writing is somewhat basic, and at times id disconnected. It is worth a try though. "

" It's not a happy story by any means, but I like how Molly took several stories and inter-weaved them into one. There were areas where I was confused about who was speaking until Molly cleared it up at towards the end of a chapter. Overall, I thought she did a really good job. "

  • 3 out of 53 out of 53 out of 53 out of 53 out of 5 Angela Haskins | 3/3/2013

" Very readable collection of short stories that ultimately folded together on one another. Reminded me very much of the movie "Playing by Heart" with Angelina Jolie and Ryan Phillipe. An strong sophomore effort. "

" Greta, is that you, Molly? I tried so hard not to imagine the main character as Molly Ringwald's alter ego. I loved this book. The more I read the more I was in awe of Ms. Ringwald's writing. I can't wait to read more fiction by her. "

" I did like this book sort of. The novel is a series of short stories told from the viewpoint of a different character. I did not like the ending at all and that was the real disappointment of the book itself. "
