"A page turner, a present mystery that is solved through past murders. Present-day Rhodes and England and Oxford of 10+ years ago. Great settings, fascinating characters, and the best of storytelling. He's been compared to Dickens and DuMaurier. I would add Greene. I have to read everything else he's published."

" i would have given this three and a half stars if that were possible except for the unexpected sex scene that was explicit. It also tarnished my view of the main character, which I know was the point, but still. "

" This book was interesting enough to keep me reading it, but I didn't much care about the characters. It was kind of hard to believe that the main character would go thru all the trouble to find the missing girl that he had so little attachment to. "

" Definitely picked up after the 150 page mark...I have a feeling that this book was quite good for the type of book it is - not my usual fair, so I feel somewhat unqualified to assess it. Written well with a good ending. "
