Publisher Description

Virgil Skinner served 14 years for a murder he didn't commit. He's finally been exonerated, but he can't escape the gang he joined in order to survive. They'll do anything to keep him from telling what he knows. And if they can't get to Virgil, they'll go after his sister and her kids.

The California Department of Corrections needs someone to infiltrate another gang, one that's taking control of the state's most notorious supermax. Virgil's the perfect candidate, and he'll agree to do it under an alias - in exchange for his sister's protection.

Chief Deputy Warden Peyton Adams is opposed to having Virgil in her prison. How will she protect him if things go bad? Besides, she's far too attracted to him; she might even be falling in love with him. That makes her all the more desperate to keep him safe - and it gives him someone else to lose.

"It took a while to get into this story but once I did, the book was hard to put down. Virgil Skinner has just been released from prison for a crime he did not commit but he did kill a fellow prisoner in self defense. This is being held over his head and he agrees to go undercover in a maximum security prison to infiltrate a gang. The authorities agree to put his sister and her children under the witness protection program. But Virgil's former gang members are after him and they will not be stopped by anything or anybody. Virgil also has another problem. He has fallen for the deputy warden and she for him. This fact has to be kept secret. Can he do what the authorities want and survive?"

" I've always loved Brenda Novak's work and this one is no exception. A must-read (and yes, I know this term is over used, but so true for this book). Novak has you turning the pages as fast as you can, yet you can't turn them to fast for fear of missing one sentence. "

" Inside by Brenda Novak is an exhilarating story about making a difference and finding love in the most unusual circumstances. Brenda Novak (love all her books) has an uncanny ability to provide just the right amount of suspense, drama, action, adventure, and romance to Inside it will leave readers feeling like they ran a 6 minute mile. I give Inside by Brenda Novak 5 smirks because the story has a certain appeal of criminal justice, searching for the truth, and romance springing in the unlikeliest of places. "

" I just couldn't get on board with the premis of this book. The attraction between the convic and the warden just didn't do it for me, probably because it was too instantanious. Come on, i just don't buy the over the moon attraction to a recently released convict like that. Hopefully mentally stable women would be a little skeptical of this... although he was being 'courted' for the program. I just don't buy this and honestly I didn't stick with it. "

" I struggled a bit with this book because it had a lot of set up. But once, I got past all the set up, I was finished within a couple of hours. It was a good story and what was even cooler; the author was inspired by Prison Break which was one of my favorite shows. "
