Publisher Description

Although a year has passed, not a day goes by without Meggie thinking of Inkheart, the book whose characters came to life–and changed her life forever. But for Dustfinger, the fire-eater brought into being from words, the need to return to the original tale has become desperate. When he finds a crooked storyteller with the magical ability to read him back, Dustfinger leaves behind his young apprentice Farid and plunges into the medieval inkscape once more. Distraught, Farid goes in search of Meggie, and before long both are caught inside the book, too. There they meet Inkheart's author, Fenoglio, now living within his own story. But the tale is much changed, and threatening to evolve in ways none of them would have ever imagined. Will Meggie, Farid, and Fenoglio manage to write the wrongs of a charmed world? Or is their story on the brink of a very bad ending?

"I liked it a lot, but I found myself getting slightly more irritated with a lot of the main characters - mostly Fengolio, Farid & Meggie. For example, Farid's over the top idol worship of Dustfinger was a little too much for me. I thought the plot was very interesting and it took a lot of unexpected twists and turns, but I think I enjoyed the first book more. I am very curious to see what lies ahead in the final book of the series."

" I found the story interesting, but not gripping. The characters and imagery were not always easy to picture or follow. With that said, when I finished, I found that I was in the middle of a story, with another book in front of me. I went to the library and checked it out (Inkdeath). So I must care enough to see what happens next. "

" An enjoyable read that is similar in style to Harry Potter or Fablehaven series. Even though the plot isn't as intricate as these books, the characters are well written and the style in enjoyable. This is book number 2 of a trilogy, and I plan to (eventually) read the last book. "
