" This is the second in the series of J. P. Beaumont novels. "Beau" is on holiday recovering from the trauma suffered in the first book when he hears a woman scream and runs out to find a murder victim. His partner, Peters, is being helped to recover his children from a sect by Beau's lawyer. J. A. Jance has a great way with characters and stories. This is another page turner to enjoy. "

" Really, I'd give this 3 1/2 stars. Not quite a four, but better than a 3. :) It was enjoyable and I do love the writing. I will read more of this series, for sure. "

  • 1 out of 51 out of 51 out of 51 out of 51 out of 5 Jess | 1/29/2014

" Protagonist and narrative voice are sexist, sizeist, retrograde, macho, annoying, and don't treat women or poor people as full human beings. Also at least two climactic violent moments where the police protagonist races to create violent confrontations that seem totally unnecessary given the situation. "

  • 4 out of 54 out of 54 out of 54 out of 54 out of 5 Cleat | 1/26/2014

" This was a very fast read and I enjoyed the plot and fast paced way it was presented. I am looking forward to reading more of the series. "

" I really like JP Beaumont! He's an impressive detective! These books are based off of an actual detective in the Seattle area. Although I think that he becomes too close to some of the characters to the point that it almost leads to his death in both books I've read! "

  • 5 out of 55 out of 55 out of 55 out of 55 out of 5 Dorothy | 1/20/2014

" Two books into this series and loving J.P. Beaumont. J.A. Jance keeps the suspects at bay and the suspense going. "
