Publisher Description

After the death of her father, Georgiana Hartley returns home to England - only to be confronted with the boorish advances of her cousin. Knowing no one, she flees to Dominic Ridgely's estate, hoping the nobleman will bestow a neighborly kindness upon her.

The viscount hears Georgiana's plea to find her a position as a lady's companion with barely concealed ill humor. A lovely innocent such as Miss Hartley subjected to that wretched existence? The very idea is preposterous. Instead, he takes matters into his own hands, introducing her to his sister's influence.

Suddenly Georgiana is transformed into a lady, charming the ton and cultivating a bevy of suitors. Everything is unfolding according to Dominic's plan...until he realizes that he desires Georgiana for his own.

"I think I read this book before, but since I didin't remember exactly how it turned out, I kept going. Spunky, unconventional heroine and dashing hero. It all works out in the end. What more do you want from a Regency romance novel? "

" I probably only finished this because I had it in audio and enjoyed Polly Lee's narration (and only read it in the first place because my library has a limited range of romance on audio). It was very silly, with an idiotic ingenue heroine and a smug ass of a hero who was quite a bit older. They fall in love (why, who knows) but are kept apart by a series of small misunderstandings by the idiot. Kind of interesting to read Laurens before all her writing tics are fully developed. "

" Sweet but dull. It would have made a lovely novella. Regardless, it was fun to read the author's much earlier work, especially with such a departure from the hump-like-bunnies Cynsters (not that I'm complaining, mind). "

" I liked this light, gentle regency romance, a reissue of a 1994 novel. It does not have the typical elements of Stephanie Lauren's later romances, lacking a mystery or suspense backstory and steamy scenes. Instead, it's a simple, clean romance. "

" Complete fluff, too light even for brain candy. No serious, compelling plot. A heroine who's tstl for a Regency. Main male lead is a wordly man of the ton, who is considerably older and wiser than the heroine, yet he inexplicably feels a pull towards her anyway. Utterly unbelievable love story. "

" So I pretty much skimmed through most of the first half of the book. It was alright not up to par with the rest of her books. Georgie and Dominic were kind of flat characters. And the whole refusal of marriage proposals got really tiring by the end. They were both being dumb. "
