I'll Be There picks up after the tragic death of Bertie Barron, who has entrusted the care of her eight-year old daughter, Nina, to her best friend, the dazzling entertainer Cee Cee Bloom. But life in the Hollywood spotlight never prepared Cee Cee for this role: mother to a little girl she barely knows. Even on the couch of the Tonight show or preparing the biggest act of her career, Cee Cee tries to focus on Nina and her needs. And for a while - eight years - it all seems to work: career, motherhood, even high-profile romance with a marvelous and unlikely lover. Then, with one devastating discovery, the life that Cee Cee has created with Nina in Hollywood is shattered, and she is forced to come to terms with the profound depth of her commitment to this young girl-now a young woman-who has become so precious to her. " Even better than Beaches. "

" Sequel to Beaches. Not nearly as good as Beaches, but it was still good. I tend to read this one over & over, as well. I especially enjoyed reading it more recently, after having become a mother. "

" Predictably weepy, seems like the author left the ending open for another book. But I enjoyed it, sitting out on the porch in the rain - light, escapist and a fun read. "

" Great coming into life book of learning to redo life a new way. When things go wrong they teach you a new way. This author brought a new look into being famous. Great part two to Beaches. "

" The first book was charming and quirky. This book is much different. Not only is it depressing as hell but it felt as if the author was struggling to find things for the characters to do. If you enjoyed the first one, it might be best to skip this one and just remember the characters as they were. "

" I was so incredibly disappointed with this book. Loved the movie "Beaches" (never read the book) so I was so curious to see what would happen to the girl. It's been a while since I read this but I remember it being so cliche. "
