Lady Minerva Sharpe has the perfect plan to thwart her grandmother’s demands: become engaged to a rogue! Surely Gran would rather release her inheritance than see her wed a scoundrel. And who better to play the part of Minerva’s would-be husband than wild barrister Giles Masters, the very inspiration for the handsome spy in the popular Gothic novels she writes? The memory of his passionate kiss on her nineteenth birthday has lingered in Minerva’s imagination, though she has no intention of really falling for such a rakehell, much less marrying him. Little does she know, he really is a covert government operative. When they team up to investigate the mystery behind her parents’ deaths, their fake betrothal leads to red-hot desire. Then Minerva discovers Giles’s secret double life, and he must use all the cunning tricks of his trade to find his way back into her heart.

"3.5 stars. If I were new to Jefferies, this would probably be a solid 4 stars and a keeper shelf entry for me. However, I've read her entire backlist (multiple times!), and so I found this a little too predictable and formula-driven--fake courtship, turned real with rake who really isn't one, compromising position leading to hasty wedding compounded by layers of misunderstanding. SEVERAL of Jefferies books follow this enjoyable formula, but after seeing it a few times, I think some of those entries are a little stronger or maybe I'm just ready for a little something different plot-wise. I love Jefferies's characterization, and I've wanted to see Giles get his story since Wed Him Before You Bed him, and I also really enjoyed Minerva's character. I like the secondary characters in this series, and I'm dying for Celia and Pinter's story. Book #1 and #2 in this series had unique plots that broke from above formula, so I have high hopes that the next may captivate me a little more." — chanceofbooks (4 out of 5 stars)

" Hint to the hero: it's easier if you don't kiss her then call her a tramp when she's 19. Also, shocker, the hero has no title (but he is a spy, of course). "
" I really wasn't impressed by the story or the style of writing. It wasn't terrible but I have no urge to run out and read any of her other books. "
" Good read good series. "
" Not as good as the first two but still enjoyable. "
" Fairly good regency. "
" Sorry not as good as the others in the series. "

" love the heroine... love how she's so headstrong and independent... And i love how she ends up with Mrs. Harris's (School for Heiress) brother-in-law... "
" I was sick, it was fun and comforting...don't judge me ;) "
" Good. Fun quick read. "
" Just because it is available at the library doesn't mean I have to listen to it. A cute little story. "
" This new addition to the Hellions of Halstead Hall series is an improvement on the second book and may be as good as the first book. This one focuses on the romance of Minerva with her brothers' friend Giles Masters, who is not what he seems. "
" Loved it! This is the first book that i read from hellion of halstead series. Will read the 1st book soon.. "
" I've enjoyed every book in this series so far. "
" This one was very sweet! Except for the parts where the main hero was trying to fool the main heroine and she gave him hard time catching up with her - that was funny. "
" Fun characters & a good amount of intrigue. A good read! "
" I actually enjoyed this book until midway through. The "spy" story that suddenly is revealed was rather annoying. The continuing murder mystery is well written and I can't wait for the next revelations. "
" It was everything I hoped it would be and more!I look forward to the last two maybe three books if grandma gets hers to!! lol "
" Loved it. This is my favorite in the series. I cant wait for Gabes stroy next!!! "
" I tried, again...to read Sabrina Jeffries. Just couldn't care about the characters in How to Woo a Reluctant Lady and not a fan of her quick writing style. Lots of dialogue with little said. "
" Best Hellions book so far. "
" Very enjoyable, but not my favorite of the Hellions series. "
" Best in the series so far! "
" Read this book in one day. Loved the characters. Definitely a keeper. "
" I have to wait until November to read the next in this series. I cannot wait, honestly. LOVING this series thus far! "
" At first I thought the plot might follow along the same lines as the first in the series but I was wrong and am glad for it. Giles and Minerva were fun characters to get to know better and I'm really enjoying the ongoing mystery of who killed the Sharpes' parents! "
