Publisher Description

All women want to kill their husbands some of the time. Where there's a will, I intend to be in it, wives half-joke to each other. Marriage, it would appear, is a fun-packed frivolous hobby, only occasionally resulting in death. But when Jazz Jardine is arrested for her husband's murder, the joke falls flat.

Life should begin at 40, but not with life imprisonment for killing your spouse. Jazz, stay-at-home mum and domestic goddess; Hannah, childless career woman; and Cassie, demented working mother of two are three ordinary women. Their record collections are classical, not criminal. Cassie and Hannah set out immediately to prove their best friend's innocence, uncovering betrayal, adultery, plot twists, thinner thighs and toy boys aplenty en route. But will their friendship survive these ever darker revelations?

Sexy, funny, and wise, Kathy Lette's irresistible new novel is about women not Having It All but Doing It All. It's about how today's mother is often a married lone parent. It's about the fact that no woman has ever shot her husband while he was vacuuming. This is Kathy Lette at her brilliant best, casting her trademark caustic eye on what goes on in the bedrooms and kitchens of ordinary married couples. A novel that will strike a cord with married women everywhere and ensure that, from now on, they all read the small print on their marriage licences.

" I read this book because it was a present from my very good friend and as she recommended it I was really looking forward to reading it because I consider her as a very intelligent woman. Wow! When I was a teenage girl this was called a romantic short novel and never had more than 40 pages. We used to take those to the beach for light reading. Nothing more in that. No literal value. So this reminded me so much of those short novels, just this one wasted more paper. I couldn't refrain myself from time to time of shouting: Oh really, for Christ sake woman! Characters are so unrealistic. Situations are at the edge of absurdity. And the end ... God what an end, what was missing is a forgotten Aunt who died in Tasmania and left to our heroine large amount of money... Another thing is Author's humor. She can really make really funny witty remarks, that I must admit, but one must understand that there had to be some kind of balance, if you tell jokes all the time people would get tired. I can't believe I wrote such a long review of such insignificant book. However, this is the first chick-lit book that I have read, maybe that was why I was too harsh. So my final words are if you are looking for a light reading... still avoid this book, go for a walk until you decide to read something more serious or until the reading urge disappears. PS I hope my friend will never see this review, after all it was her present for my birthday :-( "
