On the run from the wrathful Prince of Wales, Jack Haines, Earl of Lambourne, is taken prisoner by a Highland laird who makes him an unusual offer: if Jack handfasts his niece, then his life will be spared. The old Highland custom - a marriage lasting only a year and a day, unless both partners agree to make it a lifelong vow - sounds preferable to Jack to being dragged to London in chains, and when he meets lovely Lizzie Beal, his dilemma starts to seem positively enjoyable. Until the hellion vents her fury...on him!
Detesting the scandalous match that will end all her chances of making a respectable marriage, Lizzie can't abide living intimately with a fugitive nobleman bent on seducing her and then running off. But in teaching her the pleasures of a wife's duties, Jack sparks within them both a passion that will make him wish he could stay with Lizzie for much longer than a year and a day.

"This book made me realize how much I don't like it when the hero and heroine are not fond of or hate each each other until the end of the book where their love is finally realized. I find it SO tedious. Julia London did a good job with her writing. " — Natascha (4 out of 5 stars)

" No es el mejor libro de la autora. Aburre un poco. "
" maaf ya...tapi ini di ceritakan dari sudut pandang orang ke-3 ya? cos rada bingung aja ato terjemahannya yang rada kurang bagus? sebernya ceritanya lumayan seru "
" A different story line than usual - it was good. "
" I love Julia London's writing. Not all her stories are as good as others. Some drag on and it takes me long to read it. If it's compelling I read it quickly. The characters have been "hand fasted" for a year and a day by an evil Uncle. The relationship does not get going till close to the end of the book. For some reason the heroine decides to treat the hero badly by with holding food and a proper bed and bedroom. This was really out of character and I didn't get it. Finally by the end of the book I can feel the chemistry between them and there is a little excitement to finish out the book! "
" Made it to chapter 11 and still boring. Whiny, annoying heroine. Skipping it. "
" Not sure why I gave it 3 stars, I can not remember the ending! "
" Funny, smart, and endearing characters and a romance to boot. Great book. "
" Very interesting, fresh premise. Unique story and good series. "
" Excellant book, couldn't put it down, really good series. Can't wait for Declan O'Connor's story with the new quartet series - The Secrets of Hadley Green coming up. "
" to say that i STRUGGLED to get through this book and the previous one is an understatement. geez. "
" Geregetan ama terjemahannya, buku yg harusnya bagus jadi rusak! "
" slow beginning but fun ending. "
" Great book, enjoyed the storyline and characters. "
" Like all of her books, It was a great read! Thanks for the signed copy Julia! You rock! "
" So far each book in this series is just a little bit better than the last. Can't wait to see what the next will have to offer :o) "
" A handfast between an Earl and Lizzie. Read to find if they can fall in love. "
" This was really cute! I liked the fast paced beginning, and the ending was happy. "
" I thought this book would be great, but it didn't meet my expectations. I thought the best part of the whole book was the end (last 3-4 chapters) "

" I liked this book, although I did not find it as funny as I might have--I'm not sure why. This one is lighter than the first of the series and involves a rogue and a serious woman who is being taken advantage of by her uncle. "
" iiiihhh...perjemahannya aneh....jd males baca...udh di skip2 aja....lain kali mesti lht2 dulu kalo mau beli buku penerjemahan Oak....cape deh... "
" almost couldn't finish it. Somehow the main characters just didn't appeal to me. "
" Kind of boring....still struggling thru, meanwhile I've read 2 others and am reading a 3rd. It got a little better at the end. If they'd cut out about 1/3-1/2 of the beginning it might have been "not bad". "
