Publisher Description

What secrets lie shrouded in darkness?

Okay, so jogging through Central Park after midnight wasn't a bright idea. But Margrit Knight never thought she'd encounter a dark new world filled with magical beings, not to mention a dying woman and a mysterious stranger with blood on his hands. Her logical lawyer instincts told her it couldn't all be real, but she could hardly deny what she'd seen...and touched.

The mystery man, Alban, was a gargoyle. One of the fabled Old Races who had hidden their existence for centuries. Now he was a murder suspect, and he needed Margrit's help to take the heat off him and find the real killer. And as the dead pile up, it's a race against the sunrise to clear Alban's name and keep them both alive.

"This was well written and original as I've never read a paranormal romance about gargoyles. It sounds stupid, but it became believable unlike some other books I've read lately. I loved the heroine, who was a strong black woman and a respected lawyer whose character was well developed."

" Enjoying this story. It has enough fantasy to take me away from reality and put me another persons world and life. Escapism! "

" This was an odd book for me. I came close to wanting to dislike the main character and her actions and also the actions of Alban, but I just couldn't quite there. They weren't bad characters and do have some good qualities, but they certainly acted stupid on a number of times. I liked the idea of five Old Races. It was nice to have gargoyles, selkies, and djinn instead of the usual vampires (although there were vampires too) and werewolves. There was a fascinating interplay between the head honchos and Margrit. I couldn't quite call the romance between Alban and Margrit a romance, especially with how the book ends. It was nice not to have the main character fall instantly in love with the dark, mysterious, oh so dangerous guy. "

" Reading this book was complete luck...it was on an Audible first book sale (always a good sales tactic) and because of a reading challenge. Add a gargoyle into the mix...and we have success! I do believe I need the next book now. "

" I'm not quite sure what went wrong. It took 300 pages into the book for me to like the lead, even just a little. The romantic story was very forced and rushed. The sexual tension was immediate and improbable. "
