Publisher Description

Carolyn Jourdan spent many years as a congressional lawyer in Washington, D.C. Then she was called home to fill in for her mother as receptionist at her father's rural Tennessee doctor's office-assured it would only be for a few days. "Jourdan's dispatches from the reception desk make for a stirring, beautiful memoir that is alternately hilarious and heartbreaking, and ultimately a triumph."-Publishers Weekly, starred review

"This book was fun and light hearted but also with some quality life lessons. It's based on a true story, the author has a high pressure Wash D.C. job and gets called back home to Eastern TN to help her Dad at his family medical practice when her Mom gets sick. It's one of those "we have to remember what really matters" books if that makes sense, mixed with some seriously funny local culture. I love Southern fiction/novels and this one didn't disappoint."

" I very much enjoyed this read. Carolyn Jourdan writes with wit and humor that kept me smiling throughout. She balances her memoir with a meaningful message from the quirky, and sometimes eccentric people who she encounters through work in a rural eastern Tennessee medical clinic, giving her cause to re-examine her priorities and purpose. " I thought this was an easy read but didn't love the book but I'm not sure why. It just seemed like it was aimless rambling without a destination. I did like the moral of the story at the end but it just seemed like it needed more of something. I'm just not sure how to articulate it. "
