Publisher Description

Consummate master of his craft, Stephen King has kept millions awake past midnight shivering at tales that probe the shadows and reveal the dark side. Now listeners can chill to this dramatic unabridged production of 6 short stories from his best-selling book, Night Shift. It brings Stephen King's demonic stories fully to life - and the terror even closer to home.

Lying on the couch in Dr. Harper's office, keeping a close watch on the closet door, Lester Billings relates the bizarre tale of The Boogeyman who has taken his children's lives. In I Know What You Need, a pretty college co-ed finds the perfect lover while on a campus in Maine. A young man thrills to the eerie mists of a murderous Strawberry Spring. A winter storm hits and a group of old codgers who regularly gather around the Reliable at Henry's Nite-Owl discover the gruesome fate of an old crony in the title story, Gray Matter. A son, horrified by the grim indignity of death, struggles with his love for The Woman in the Room, while a hit man, back from a successful assignment, finds himself besieged by a toy army that turns his New York penthouse into a deadly Battleground.

"Excellent collection of shorts. Another one to keep handy. Many have already been made for either TV or screen. Good to read 'Jerusalem's Lot' before 'Salems Lot (but not necessary). Loved 'Trucks', 'Graveyard Shift' and too many to mention them all. "

" Some fairly memorable stories make this collection a very chilly one. "Night surf", later expanded into the Stand, "Jerusalem's Lot" another story of ancient evil, and who will ever forget "Children of the Corn." "

" There are a couple of good short stories here. Nothing too long, but I remember the house feeling big and lonely after reading that book for about an hour. "The Man Who Liked Flowers" left me with a creepy feeling. Some of it felt like it was written by a young person. "

" What a great introduction to Stephen King. I really liked about 85% percent of the stories--though the last story concerning assisted suicide was quite a downer to end on. "

" Da piccolo sono stato un grande amante del primi King, in particolare questa raccolta di racconti è uno dei suoi migliori, in poche pagine riesce a terrorizzarti... in particolare il racconto "baubau" è assolutamente SPAVENTOSO! "
