Publisher Description

Twelve-year-old Jordan Warden isn't happy. He has rich, uncaring parents and is virtually a prisoner in the huge family mansion, Thattlebee Hall. Worst of all though, is his granny. Not only is she physically repulsive, she's horribly mean. Even so Joe is shocked by the malicious gleam in her eye as she gives him a Christmas present fit for a two-year-old. It's the look of a predatory crocodile, and Joe starts to suspect that Granny has unpleasant designs on him. But what are they and how can he foil them?

"Anthony Horowitz did a good job of grossing and freaking me out with this one. Some of the comedy is sick, but the book was written well. If you like the comedy, gross-out books, I would personally recommend Granny. My fellow classmates wouldn't give you that same answer."

" We listened to this as a book on tape out to our family reunion. The writing was very clever and the book itself was at times laugh out loud funny. The story itself started out enjoyable but turned a little bizarre. I thought it got a little dark for kids. But still really funny. "

" Frankly, it has its overly gruesome moments (which boys may love), but I found it overall to be rather funny. It has some of the same silly humor and one-liners that fans of the Diamond Brothers mysteries have come to expect. Sure, it's not great literature, but I think kids will probably enjoy it. "

" Silly old-fashioned story about a brit boy with an evil granny. He has aristocratic and disinterested parents who leave him with the granny for a vacation. The voice could coexist in such worlds as Unfortunate Events and other old-fashioned (but modern) worlds. A little politically incorrect at times. A lot of tongue-in-cheek humor. Very different from Horowitz' other stuff. Recently reissued with a fresh, cool cover. "
