Detective Inspector January David has always put his professional before his private life, but the two worlds are about to clash horrifically as he visits his latest crime scene. He is confronted by a lifeless figure suspended ten feet above a theatre stage, blood pouring from her face into a coffin below. This gruesome execution is the work of an elusive serial killer. Three women from three different London suburbs, each murdered with elaborate and chilling precision. And as January stares at the most beautiful corpse he's ever seen, he detects the killer's hallmark. But Girl 4 is different: She is alive - barely. And January recognises her....

" Did not like the narrators of this at all. Accents way over the top. Not sure why you would use Australians for a novel set in London. The characters are either OTT plum in mouth or OTT cockney. The plot was ok, the ending ridiculous. Glad I got this from the library and didn't pay for it. The written version would be much better as these readers are really awful and spoil it. It was hard to get right through it because of the voices. "

" Very promising debut novel that echoes John Connolly in the way it blurs the line between crime fiction and something beyond our reach. January David is an interesting protagonist with the promise of much more to come. Snappy read too "

" A good first book and a good story. Just not my taste of writing; whilst seeing the story from the points of view of the victims, bad guy and good guy is interesting it broke up the flow too much for me "

" Pretty good read most of the way through. Ending was beyond absurd and made the rest a waste of time. Boo. "

" Very inventive plot, but toward the end I couldn't believe that Jan would stay with his wife knowing what he knew. "

" Loved this book! Creepy, fun and great characters. Had some smug time "yes, of course wink nod we know who did it." only to be proven wrong? Or was I ? Great ride. "

" I really enjoyed this book once I got the idea that there were different characters telling the story from their point of view. The story moved along quickly with a few surprises along the way. I'm looking forward to reading the next one. "

" In many ways the best book I have read for a while. I needed to concerntrate as it jumps about a lot. The ending was disapointing because it didn`t feel like it finished, it left you guessing what the future holds for the characters of the book. I would definately read another book by this author. "

" Good read but didn't feel much empathy with the main characters and thought it was a bit far fetched. "

" Ended up really quite enjoying this. However, it was more one of those quick easy reads than anything deep or thought provoking. Really different style of writing to anything I've read before aswell. "
