Publisher Description

An epic saga of love, fate and betrayal.

Victoria has chosen career over love, but starts to question this decision when she finds herself working at a remote weather research station on a tiny island off the coast of Norway.

In this world of midnight sunshine, the Old Gods still watch the affairs of humanity - one of them has become fixated on Victoria, certain that she is the reincarnation of a woman he fell in love with over a thousand years before. It was a love affair which threatened the very existence of Asgard.

Dangerous love and desire are soon running out of control, as the spectacularly supernatural obliterates Victoria's refuge in scientific rationalism.

"What a beautifully told love story. The tale goes from the past to the future and back, where two characters are destined to be together no matter how many thousands of years have past. I can't say much about the plot but I was truly mesmerised by this story. I'm not usually a lover of love stories but Kim has such an original way of telling her fantasy stories you can't help but be swept away. After this book I read every one of Kims books!! I'm totally addicted to her now :)."

" No words could describe how much I love this book. Though occasionally fraught with sappy dialogue, the depth of the world and characters makes up for it. Amalgamations of real life and fantasy are seldom pulled off well, but Wilkins manages to create a believable co-existence between our world ("Midgard") and the realm of the Norse gods ("Asgard") through a careful selection of point-of-views. " I loved this book. I'd like to find something insightful to say about it, but it simply was a great bloody read. I bought it in the Vegas airport some years ago, on a layover. "

" I picked it up because of the Norse mythology - I re-read it because it's a beautiful love story set between worlds, with enough fantasy and excitement to make it palatable to anyone, even cynics. "

" I enjoyed this story and liked the mixture of the Ancient Norse mixed in with the present day. But thought the ending wasn't so good. Victoria's fate and where she ended up didnt make any sense to the rest of the book "

" I admit I picked up this book purely for entertainment and the winter theme. But I was engrossed right away. The author delves into Norse mythology, reincarnation, love and loss and redemption. Although dubbed a romance, it is more aptly called a fantasy-sci fi. "

" I really enjoyed The Autumn Castle and this book was even better. I loved all of the Norse mythology, but even more so the characters and the story line were compelling and made me want to keep reading and really care about what happened to all of the characters. This is a really good book! "

" Absolutely love the blending of the modern with dark Norse mythology and ultimate true love. It's so refreshing to read about characters that are deeply flawed but wonderfully quirky and truly striving for not better per say, but some ultimate goal that fulfills them. "

" This is a really good story, you have to believe in the Norse Gods a little bit, but it's a love story that mixes today's world with the world of the Norse Gods. It sounds lame but it is not at all. I recommend this book to anyone. "
