" Thankfully I got it late, and I got it early. Life-changing relationship advice. Read this before you say yes. "

" I highly recommend this book to any couple serious about making their long term relationship thrive. It's clear, logical, and provides real-world techniques for developing the interpersonal skills that can take a marriage beyond the blahs to regain and enrich the love that was there from the beginning. After two failed marriages, I know that reading this book has better equipped me for my next relationship. PS: it takes both parties committing to the deal. Read the book; you won't regret it. "

" Made me realize how much work a good marriage takes! Maybe I should have realized this sooner??! I don't agree with a lot of the recovering-from-your-childhood-wounds thing and Imago Therapy, but it made me think critically about myself and my marriage, which is often useful. "

" He does have the good sense to realize not all wounds heal. He is also very big on so many adult problems stemming from childhood and your relationship with your parents: to the point this influences how you choose partners. The question then becomes, how to salvage a damaged relationship, and he is very big on communication, but in a non-threatening way. Slowing down the heat during an argument isn't easy, but I think with some of his techniques, it can be done where each party feels "heard." "

  • 5 out of 55 out of 55 out of 55 out of 55 out of 5 Brianne | 1/24/2014

" I don't say this often about self-help books but this one was filled with epiphanies. The first few pages are really dry talking about the brain stem but after that it was fascinating on many levels. "
