Publisher Description

Gemma is the story of a child abduction written from two widely divergent points of view: 12 year-old Gemma and Hazen Wook, the 36-year-old man who abducts her. Hazen is a violent pedophile, a sexual obsessive, and Tilly does not white-wash or sanitize his thoughts in any way. This book is scary and not for the faint of heart.

"WOW! Grabbed me from the beginning and didnt let go until the last page! I read this book in a day because I couldnt put it down. It's almost like a train-wreck. You can't stand to look but you can't look away. It was amazing to me that she could capture the perpetrator and really make you feel like you could comprehend his way of thinking. It wasn't until I read up on Meg Tilly that I understood how she could understand that way of thinking and what would make one write about this.....She herself was a victim...Amazingly detailed and horrific in parts but a great read and a wonderful ending....."

" This rating is kind of a cheat, because I actually didn't get too far into the book before I had to quit. I don't approve of reviewers giving a low rating to books simply because the subject matter is disturbing, as a disturbing book can still be extremely well written, but this book truly made me sick. I couldn't keep reading and therefore can't honestly evaluate this book. "

" This book is really unsettling and incredibly graphic. I started reading a preview and then ordered the book, I'm wasn't sure if I would be able to get through it,as necessary as I think the discussion of child abuse is. I did get through it and I am glad I did. It was a fantastic and frighting story. "

" Picked out this book because of its beautiful title, my name. Stuck with it because of its beautiful, vivid characters. Reccomend it because its beautifully told story. "

" This novel starts off strong and uncompromising. It's the story of a young girl who gets kidnapped and sexually abused by her kidnapper. It's the story of her survival and struggle to live any kind of life after such abuse. I didn't like the ending and the way it sort of became one of those Oprah How-I-Survived books. I found all the God talk distracting and the ending a little wishy-washy, but it was a fast, enthralling read. Warning: there is some graphic descriptions of the main character being abused, but it's not unnecessary and works with the story and style. "

" This book is very graphic. It's the story of a small girl's kidnapping and subsequent repeated rapes. It's told from the perspective of both the captor and the victim. I read this book in one day and it left me drained and tainted just from knowing that somewhere such a thing is really occurring. "
