"I was torn between 4 and 5 stars, but then thinking back to how much fun I had reading it, it's a 5-star for sure. It's got Shakespeare, baseball, middle school, world events, and a bully. Pretty great stuff. There were parts so good my jaw dropped. On some levels, I wish I could give it more than 5 stars - but the reason I was thinking 4 isn't the writing at all - but that the good parts were almost too good. The resolutions were fun to read, but really too great at times. But, maybe that's what a book is for. I couldn't put it down, it's written beautifully, and I don't know how an author gives you information (the reader) while not giving it all away to the main character - it's really amazing. This book was a great experience."

" I really enjoyed reading this book. The beginning was kind of slow to me but right about page 60 it started picking up and then I was totally sucked in. This is young adult fiction but can definitely be enjoyed by adults as well. It's the story of a teenage boy whose English teacher has him read Shakespeare on Wednesday afternoons and all the things he learns through the course of one school year. I loved how he weaved history of civil rights, politics, Vietnam war, etc. into the story. The characters are wonderful and you find yourself rooting for them. Very well written. I'm excited to start the sequel. "

" Great book. It reminded me of the show "The Wonder Years" only better. Really funny narration with some surprisingly poignant moments as well all from the perspective of a seventh grade boy. Great audio book. "

" This is a TERRIFIC book. And I am so pleased that I chose it right as school was starting (and it took me much longer than usual because I lost all my reading for pleasure time) because it is inspiring. What we teachers can do! Highly recommend. "
