" Someone recently asked if I was born on a Friday. I was Friday's Child! loving and giving. Then I found this book. Synchronicity all around! And light historical romantic fiction to boot. I was entertained by this bit of old-fashioned Polite World silliness, laughing aloud at the befuddlements and misunderstandings of romance. I could imagine it as a movie. But unless you are 60-something and previously smitten by the novels of Delderfield, Howatch and Austen, it will probably not be your English cup of tea. "

" This is a regency-era England take on a cross between A Midsummer's NIght Dream & Much Ado About Nothing. One of the main character's is even named Hero. The main characters are selfish, volatile, of questionable morals, naive, & submissive & adoring to a fault, yet somehow so likable. I found this book super funny. It's a light, fast read. It could have been cut down a bit in the last 100 pages. It also uses so much regency-era slang that I had to Google Georgette Heyer to find a list of terms & definitions. "

" My least favorite of Heyer's books thus far. It is well written, but I found myself annoyed with the childish actions is the characters throughout. "

" I'd almost give this a 5 star rating, just from Ferdy's dialogue about Nemesis, that Greek fellow that follows you around and sneaks up on you when you least expect it. Hilarious! "

" Hero Wantage is innocence at its most adorable. I love the awkwardness of quarrel, the ingenuous desire to please and the willingness to laugh in this book. And Ferdy, with the Greek fellow chasing him and his dislike of the Bad Man, is priceless. "

" Always enjoyable to read Heyer. This offering is in her "silly young people" category of novel, while I (as an intelligent older woman) prefer her non-traditional heroines who are "older and wiser." Still, a cast of characters worthy of Wodehouse. Lots of chuckles. "
