Virgin River is abuzz with the news that a stranger bought the town’s abandoned church on eBay. The buyer, a young widowed reverend, is a little like the building itself: in need of some loving care.

Noah Kincaid arrives ready to roll up his sleeves and revitalize his new purchase, but he’s going to need some help. An ad in the local paper brings an improbable candidate his way.

“Pastor’s assistant” is not a phrase that springs to mind when Noah meets brassy, beautiful Alicia Baldwin. With her colorful clothes and even more colorful past, Alicia needs a respectable job so she can regain custody of her children. Noah can’t help but admire her spunk and determination, and she may just be the breath of fresh air he needs.

This unlikely duo may come from two different worlds, but they have more in common than anyone would have expected. And in Virgin River, lasting happiness is never out of the question.

Listener Opinions

" I've enjoyed every book I've read in this series, and this one doesn't break that streak. While the entire series tends to have a somewhat spiritual/inspirational feel to it, this one is more overtly religious - kind of hard for it not to be, with the hero being a Presbyterian minister. It doesn't come across at all preachy though, and in fact I know quite a few people who would have a much better opinion of organized religion if more ministers took some lessons from Noah! The series is getting somewhat predictable, but in a good way - maybe a better word would be reliable. I always have a pretty good idea what to expect when I start reading, and I know I'll have a case of the warm and fuzzies when I finish the book. Definitely a series I look to when I need a mood-lifter. "

" I love the world of virgin river! The author has a way of writing that I am able to see the world in their point of view. If only there was more action bit more suspense I have no complaints with this series. Till the next book.... "

" I found this book to be really enjoyable to read. The leads were funny and real, the plot was interesting, and the was the add on of the crazy ex and Mrs. Carr made him very crazy. I loved it! "

" This has to be one of my favorites in the series as of yet. Noah and Ellie are wonderful. Noah will have his curse jar filled before he knows it and Noah and Ellie's reason for her not playing at the wedding was funny. The vision of it makes me laugh. Poor Vanni, thanks goodness Ellie came through. "

" Noah and Ellie started off a bit slow, but another good story but painful to read with deranged man taking care of kids that were not his own--legally. Noah did not seem religious or minister like at all. "

  • 5 out of 55 out of 55 out of 55 out of 55 out of 5 Sandy | 10/23/2012

" OMG! This was the best one so far! Robyn Carr has the ability to make you forget these are just characters in a book(s). You find yourself thinking about these characters throughout the day wondering what they're doing. I am so thankful I discovered this series. It is such a blessing. "

" This book spent a lot of time on the main couple, Noah and Ellie, but we also saw a number of returning characters as Noah and Ellie went about their daily lives. I felt we really got to know these two characters but was not all that impressed by the connection and the romance between them "

  • 3 out of 53 out of 53 out of 53 out of 53 out of 5 Jenny | 8/16/2011
