" Not bad. I prefer the Nightside books, but this ended on a great cliffhanger and I am eagerly waiting for the next book in the series. As this series develops, Green is finding his rhythm. I'm a little tired of the "nothing can stop me because I have magic armor so I'm just going to stomp my way through situations". Eddie Drood has the potential to be so much more. I hope Green allows him to be that. "

" Not up to the same caliber as others in the series. More blood and guts than plot in this one. It just didn't hold my attention. "

" Not bad, I liked it in general but there are better books in the series. The end maed it feel like its the setup for THE BIG EVENT. "

" the fifth novel in the secret histories is more wonderful reading by simon r. green...this one doesn't disappoint in the least! eddie drood is back along with his girlfriend molly metcalf, the wild witch of the wood. together the two of them (along with the rest of the drood family) need to stop a satanic conspiracy that seems to have a way to control the minds of the people. there are also rumors that there will be a "great sacrifice" tied into the conspiracy. another great romp as eddie and molly attempt to find out the plot and stop it before it is too late. "

" Something about this book lacks the same magic that was present in the previous installments in the series. I can't quite put my finger on what the difference between the different books is. The story had an odd flow to it, some of the jokes (while funny the first time) started to feel a bit repetitive as the story progressed. I don't know if it's repetitive in this book, or over the series or over the authors larger body of work. "

" Standard Simon Green fare -- fast-paced, snarky and increasingly over-the-top until everything comes to some kind of conclusion. (Or a cliffhanger leading into the next volume, as the case may be.) "

" Usually I enjoy Nightside more than Secret History, but this time Eddie Drood kept me reading till 3am because I wanted to see if I'd worked out "whodunit". I was right :) I have to say I didn't see who the entity in the library was before hand though! "

" I didn't like this one as much as the previous five in the series. I think I just lost interest about 3/4 through it. It was a great story line, I just wasn't as into it. The ending left me wishing the next one was out though. It looks like it will be fantastic. "
