Publisher Description

Imagine a workplace where everyone chooses to bring energy, passion, and a positive attitude to the job every day. Imagine an environment in which people are truly connected to their work, to their colleagues, and to their customers. In this engrossing parable, a fictional manager is charged with the responsibility of turning a chronically unenthusiastic and unhelpful department into an effective team. Down the street from her office is Seattle's very real Pike Place Fish, a world famous market that is wildly successful thanks to its fun, bustling, joyful atmosphere and great customer service. By applying ingeniously simple lessons learned from the actual Pike Place fishmongers, our manager discovers how to energize those who report to her and effect an astonishing transformation in her workplace.

Addressing today's most pressing work issues (including employee retention and burnout) with an engaging metaphor and an appealing message that applies to anyone in any sector of any organization, Fish! offers wisdom that is easy to grasp, instantly applicable, and profound - the hallmarks of a true business classic.

"Great Book! I loved every minute of it. I first read the book about a month ago, it given to me by one of the managers at work. I liked it so much I purchased my own copy to read when times get tough! My work ethic changed considerably when I read this story. Great!"

" A nice management (and really even personal "self-help") book about 4 concepts to better improve work. A very quick read and really useful even for a non-profit (at least I was able to take lessons and apply them to the library). "

" This is my second read of this book. Decided to revisit it before recommending to someone. I find this book applicable to life in general and not just the workplace. It's a good, quick story. If you find yourself in a rut at work or just in general, it's nice to load it on the lobe for pickmeup. "

" Not sure about this one, can't see how this would work in the UK in terms of motivating staff. The idea of forcing yourself to be happy at work seems... silly. "

" I quite short stories like Fish, or The One Minute Manager. It is very easy to digest, literally a one hour read, and has valuable business and management lessons. Will try and pick up a cheap copy, since I borrowed the one I read. "

" Good book that lays out a plan to improve morale and connect with the customer. It's all good stuff, but there is some question as to the authenticity of the Pike Place people and the actual book. Regardless, great observations and implementation. "

" I liked the story format in which the book was presented. Well.. Who wouldn't like to be treated as a child when they have lived a quarter century? Suited for light reading. May be high school kids would find it inspirational/new. "
