It's a typical night for high-school senior Jack Danielson. A star football player, he just broke the league rushing record, celebrated at the local diner, and got shot down (again) by his girlfriend. Jack feels he's having the most normal senior year a guy could have in the most normal little town in America. He couldn't be more wrong.

His football exploits were featured on the television news, and now he's in terrible danger. Jack learns his mom and dad are not his real parents. In fact, everything he knows is a lie. The truth is, Jack's a powerful guardian from the future sent back to prevent an ecological disaster. But now the Dark Army knows how to find him - and they're coming fast. " I listened to this and I am sure I missed some important details. I have to admit I was a little disappointed with it. It was too unbelievable. I like science fiction/fantasy that is more realistic. "

" A good start to a good series. Read the whole trilogy! "

" This is an environmentally themed book that I enjoyed much more than Hoot. It is also an adventure thriller that is more thrilling than the Alex Rider books. Yet, it doesn't seem to have the popularity of either of those other books. Jack has had a normal childhood with attentive parents, good grades, success in athletics (he plays football), and a girlfriend P.J. His father has always encouraged him not to excel too much and one day, forgetting this advice, Jack breaks the school's rushing record, ends up on tv and suddenly his life is completely changed. He is constantly on the run or hiding to survive. He learns that his parents - now probably dead are not his real parents - and he is far from normal, having been sent from the future to try to save the world by finding Firestorm, which no one can tell him anything about. This story involves an evil environmental despot, martial arts training, and the ability to talk to a dog. Jack also faces an identity crisis and is trying to figure out who he is as all that he thought he was and had is taken from him. "

" I have mixed feelings about the themes of this book. And I got tired of the unrelenting fast pace. "
