"The Coast Guard is awesome, and this book gives yet another account of how brave these men and women are, putting themselves at risk to save people stranded at sea. If you like any of Tougias's books and liked them, this one will be a good read for you, too."

" Thank God for the Coast Guard. It's hard to imagine today that just 50 years ago the Coasties were going out in small, open wooden boats. The next time I'm on the Cape, I want to go to Orleans and see the CG36500 for myself. "

" The book focuses on one storm in 1952 near Chatham, MA, but also includes flashbacks to other storms and history of some of the main players.. All that flashing around made the narration seem disjointed. "

" Michael Tougias has an uncanny ability to fastidiously research every single facet of events then recount them in an interesting, suspenseful manner. The Finest Hours is just another example. If you love the ocean and heroic stories, pick this book up! "

" This is an interesting story. I like historical books like this. It did bog down a bit with details that weren't related. If the author had just stuck more to the story, I think I would have liked it more. "
