" Very whimsical, of course, and I enjoyed reading them. My favorite is The Selfish Giant. "

  • 3 out of 53 out of 53 out of 53 out of 53 out of 5 Roxane | 2/15/2014

" Short stories for children - though I would recommend for older children. May have to borrow someone's children to try one or two out on...would be interesting to see how today's children interpret these stories (I myself am still struggling with "The Nightingale and the Rose"). "

  • 3 out of 53 out of 53 out of 53 out of 53 out of 5 Laura | 2/11/2014

" A wonderful collection of stories by Oscar Wilde. They are didactic - all aimed at imparting a moral- which is reflective of the period in which they were written, but so beautiful and emotional the lessons appear to be natural conclusions. My favorites are "The Selfish Giant" and "The Nightingale and the Rose." "

" I remember a Happy Prince doll animation from my childhood which was incredibly sad and always made me depressed. Yet it was so beautiful and when I now found out it was Wilde's story I was awed. I liked all of them for their bittersweetness but this particularly is close at my heart. "
