Publisher Description

Beatrice Shakespeare Smith (Bertie for short) consorts daily with fairies, spirits, pirates, kings and queens. Left in infancy on the doorstep of the Theatre Illuminata, Bertie's confidants and acquaintances step from the pages of plays. When the Theatre decides to evict her from her home of seventeen years, Bertie fights to stay where she is as the curtain goes up on a drama of longing and discovery- with Bertie searching out the well-concealed secrets of her past. Infused with the love of the theater, Lisa Mantchev's first novel weaves a coming-of-age tale which is rich and sensual, screamingly funny, deeply mystical and ultimately joyous.

"After reading this book, I fell in love with the genera of Magical Fantasy! The story was very unique and left me wanting to read even more! One of the best books I have ever read. The characters were vivid, the plot line intriguing and the descriptions transported me to the Theater itself. "

" This was a pretty good book. While I could see a couple plot twists coming, it was a good, fun book to read and is at last a break from all the crappy paranormal romance books that seem to be so popular among teens these days. "

" I was slightly hesitant to read Eyes Like Stars - seemed a bit odd to me - but I am so glad I did. It was thoroughly wonderful and woven together almost seamlessly. "

" I thought the premise of this book sounded good. But I was disappointed when after 50 pages in I kept getting lost on what was going on and the story just couldn't keep my attention, I kept wanting to put the book down to clean the floors or do the dishes. I also found that I couldn't connect with the characters and didn't care what happened to them. "

" I could not get into this book. It was just too bizarre for me and uninteresting. This is the first book in a really long time that I have not finished but I finally turned it back into the library after weeks of it sitting around with out making any headway. "

" One third through the book, I put it down and never picked it up again. I don't know what it was about this book, I just never liked it. I gave it three stars for the good storyline and all, but I never finished it. Put it on Bookswaps. Hopefully someone will like it, and take it off my hands. "

" This book was rather interesting in terms of the characters and the plot, but sometimes it was hard to follow what exactally was happening in the book, I'm attributeing that to the fact that this book was written like a screen play. All in all though, a nice story. "
