Publisher Description

New York Times best-selling author Nick Trout has captivated audiences with his books that take us behind the scenes into the heartwarming - and sometimes heartrending - world of veterinary medicine. In a perfect follow-up to his first two books, he turns his lens inward and offers a funny, moving, and thoughtful, memoir about the animals he's had all his life.

Nostalgic, warm, and insightful, Ever By My Side is about the power of animals to shape our lives, to teach us, and to bear witness to our struggles, triumphs, hopes, and fears.

"This audio combined two of my favorite things: stories about pets read by a guy with a British accent. What's not to like? Especially since most of the stories were about dogs. Trout made a lot of points that are worth reflecting on for those who love their pets. "

" More personal that his other two books, Dr. Trout looks back at the animals/pets in his life and how they affected him. Also a look into what motivated him to become a vet, his schooling, and his internships. Lastly, it is a memoir of the relationship with his father. "

" Still reading about dogs! This is no James Herriot, but still it sounds very true. "

" I thoroughly enjoyed this little narrative about Dr. Trout's career, his pets and most of all the tribute to his parents. "

" This is a book I won from Goodreads, and I'm glad I did. I enjoyed this, it is rather James Herriot-esque, with a more modern voice. He talks mostly about the pets his family has owned, with a few clinical cases thrown in to make his point. "

" This was a great book! Both funny and heartbreaking. You feel like you've met all the people Mr. Trout has written about "
